Parent Education
The
Parent Education Program serves the families of mid-coast Maine
with support, education and training.
The Parent Education Program provides a variety of opportunities for parents to increase their knowledge and skills to foster a healthy and nurturing family environment.
The Parent Education
Program provides education and support groups throughout the
region to parents of children from birth through adolescense
to foster the development of
- positive parent-child communication;
- positive, supportive parent-child relationships;
- consistent family rules; and
- non-violent problem solving.
The Parent Education Program provides
- parenting skills education at community sites across the
region;
- life skills training including stress reduction, conflict
resolution, budget and household management and vocational
awareness;
- support and referrals for pregnant and parenting adolescents;
- support groups, and
- advocacy and referral.
Among the programs
offered, is the monthly Kids First training, This 4-hour class
assists parents experiencing separation/divorce. The class is
supported in part by the Administrative Office of the Courts
Broadreach
Parent Education Programs receive funding support from the Maine
Department of Health and Human Services.
